N.B The first appearance of 'one-off job' in the Daily Mail was on 31 December 1969 (in respect of a cruise on the QE2).  Searching 'a one off' brings up the earliest result on 9 May 1964.  This is a reference by Daily Mail journalist Vincent Mulchrone to a yachtsman called Charles McLendon of whom it was said, 'McLendon is, perhaps, one of the rarest - a "sport", a one-off.'
